25th anniversary slideshow

So i am in the middle of working on a slideshow for my parents since they have been married for a quater of a century. Sounds pretty remarkable. well it is.

So for them i thought that i would experiment with Final Cut Pro and make them a moving image slide show.

Since i am cool, i thought it would be outmost awesome to create it in high Definition at 1200x720 resolution with a solid NTSC loseless encoder.

So far it is really really nice and i am exporting a GiG per 3minutes of footage with audio in about 15 mintues rendering time.

Without using many video filters Fiona (15"powerbook) is flying through the renders with FCPro.

Anyway. I am about to finish chapter 3 of 5. I will keep you updated.

namaste.

It has been 12 months since the creation namaste and i must say that it took that much time to secure it on a media that i can keep under lock and key.

namaste and all of it's components are sitting on a 250GB hardrive named annabelle.

Included is the final version named final_verse_2 which is a 35GB quicktime movie file that outputs the film at full 1280 x 720 image resolution at 23.98 images per second.

compressed using a losless HD encoder from film to digital using the Canon XL-1 device control option, we lost no information from the time the film left the camera head through the fire wire cable to the lovely Darton (Powermac).

built to be view perfectly on a 23" mac cinema monitor.

Compressed DVD copies have now been made and there are a limited amount of them. These are the last discs that will only have the 48 film festival cut on it. The following discs will have a new edited version.

time o' the year

it is that time of the year again. School is letting out and that means that geochange is going to be back on the ball again to do some work.

It is looking like a great summer. Geochange is going to team up with writer Jbernadette for a new experimental short. Probably going to take place in the middle of the summer (June to July)

******

We are also looking forward to a new 48 hour film festival. It has almost been a year since geochange was formed with extravaganza and a golden thread to produce Namaste.
The one year anniversary edition will be posted and submitted to several film festivals this year.

this site will be a lot more active in the next months!

the thought of film

what is it about film that draws us to it. I find that i slip my way into a completely different reality or dimension or something. When making my first film it was strange to slip into something that was so deep seeded in my head out in reality. THink of your thoughts or images of your dreams being played out infront of your observing eye.

I now feel sorry for those writers that don't see their work be created by someone in the 3-d. Surely they know the exact environment and know their charactors like their closest family or friends, but to see their work walk around and speak their lines and live their created attitude/behaviors.

i find this is the magic of flim and the beauty of it.

when i was filming, it was like i left this city even though i was walking around in it the entire day of filming. I was on a large movie set with no walls or paintings. I had 750,000 potencial stand in-s and moving steel trains at my disposal.

There were no boarders, there were no lighting systems, there was not an excutive telling us when to stop filming because of cost issues and telling us we need to fit that pepsi label in there, at the far background, for invisable advertising.

It was a group of friends, with a camera and a story comming to life.
it was a dream.
